You’ve got questions…We’ve (hopefully) got answers!

  1. Are you in-network with any of the local HMO’s (Quartz, Dean, GHC)?

No, we would be considered out of network with the above HMO plans. If still interested in working with our clinic it would be under our self-pay rates. Please keep in mind that physical therapy is considered an eligible service under HSA and FSA plans.

  2. Do I need a referral to come see you?

If you have Medicare then yes, you will need a referral from your primary care physician. Otherwise, if you have private insurance or are self-pay, you can come right on in. Often we will still need to communicate with your providers about your PT plan of care in order to ensure continuity of care.

  3. Do I need to cancel an evaluation or follow up appointment if I’m on my period?

Not necessarily. Being a women’s health clinic, this happens pretty much daily around here. As long as you are comfortable, we would still love to see you.

  4. Will I have to undergo an internal pelvic examination?

Sometimes (depending on your symptoms) a pelvic exam might be helpful in order to understand how to best support you. We can do this vaginally and without using stirrups or a speculum. We will talk through the pros, cons, risks and alternatives for pelvic exam for each individual human. This allows clients to use that info to make the best choice for themselves. We work together on attaining full informed consent prior to ever proceeding with a pelvic examination.

  5. When should I schedule my first postpartum session?

If you are having symptoms and need emotional, educational and physical support, we’d be happy to see you in clinic or virtually at any point postpartum. I’ve supported women virtually 2 days after birth! If you want a full postpartum assessment that includes a pelvic exam, we wait until you are 6 weeks postpartum.

  6. When should I see you during pregnancy?

If you are having pelvic symptoms like leakage, pain, core weakness or changes in sexual health, we want to see you no matter where you are in your pregnancy. If you are feeling pretty good, but just want some support around labor and delivery and early postpartum recovery, click here!

  7. Can I come to see you prior to pregnancy to get a wellness baseline and general education on pelvic health?

Absolutely! One of my favorite things to do is help women prepare for pregnancy. As this is a wellness visit we would not be able to bill your insurance. This is a self-pay visit.

  8. Is virtual pelvic PT worth my time?

We certainly believe so. There is so much we can offer you from the comfort of your own home (or office). We’ve supported many women virtually and have had very positive feedback on this option.

  9. What is your late cancellation or no-show policy?

We know life is unpredictable at times. We also know that we typically have patients on our wait list looking for the next soonest appointment. Given both of these things, we ask for 24 hours or greater notice if you need to change or cancel an appointment. If you have more than 1 appointment change without 24 hours notice, then you will incur a $50 charge.

  10. Do you accept students (shadow, volunteer, DPT program) at your clinic?

Due to the one-on-one and personal nature of our appointments we regretfully are unable to accommodate students at our clinic.

  11. I'm in my first trimester of pregnancy. Can I have a pelvic floor exam?

While it's likely perfectly safe, pelvic PTs wait until the 2nd trimester before doing an internal pelvic exam. There is still a way to assess the pelvic muscles externally and there is still plenty of additional support we can provide if you are having unwanted symptoms.
